The outmost reality game

The universe. Multiple solar systems with their planets swinging slowly in an eternal orbit. Light years away from one another. In its isolation, life exists in one earth-like planet in each solar system.

“Hehe! Men from Earth 004 discovered the existence of earth size habitable zone planets around them! Give them their 10 points!” said the old man with the beard to his young assistant. “Finally!” replied the young assistant, “they were the last ones but now, men in all the earths have managed to reach that conclusion. Here begins the final level – who will be the first to actually pay a visit!”. The old man found himself a more comfortable seating in front of his giant screen, caressing his beard with a smile of satisfaction…“Here comes the action! Let’s see which earth will be the winner of this game. Can’t wait to look at their faces when they meet one another!” he said.

DIY decoration or mama is painting

Sunday afternoon at home, rainy outside, crazy inside with my 5-year old son looking around his room for the next interesting toy to get out of the self. Great opportunity to calm down the spirit with some painting… the mess is also guaranteed, but at least it is a sitting activity 🙂

DIY decoration - girlDuring this process, mom got carried away, got inspired and painted a heart in pink variations – a nice little canvas to join the other handcrafted frames in our newly born baby girl’s room. The result was really beautiful!

For the completeness of the description, just to mention that the son quit long before I got to finish my creation, and I found myself left alone in his room mixing the paints! Not bad at all 🙂

It’s a girl!

Mom for the second time! What a blessing! with a tiny little baby girl in my arms, just seconds after the birth, can’t take my eyes off her. The biggest miracle of life, on my exhausted body, searching for the breast to attach herself. So powerful moments!

Mobile user engagement with Social Media

It’s a long way the other social platforms have to cover to reach FB! Indeed FB has a very appealing and addicting effect, won’t you agree? No further comments, need to check my FB news feed 🙂

The advantage of looking from above…

…is according to me the realization of how small we are, ourselves, our worries, our problems, our victories. It’s good every now and then to be reminded of this; to keep thoughts, feelings and decisions in the right perspective.

To look at an image like this has a calming effect to me, bring up optimistic thoughts and energy to do things: here and now! And the feeling that for every problem there must a solution!

Upside down

upside_downI know, long time no post, no news, no nothing in thingsthatmatter.gr. It’s not because there is nothing that matters to be shared….on the contrary I have been overwhelmed by so many things that do matter the most to me and unless I regain control of my inner self I can’t write 🙂

It may seem complicated, well it is! But I’m fine and I promise to be back very soon with updates in a normal mode.

Thank you to those who drop me email or skype me instead… it’s great to know people care 🙂

Email-free weeks

I was just reading about an Italian fabric company that decided to run a pilot email-free week, asking employees not to exchange any internal email! Instead, they were encouraged to use traditional face-to-face contact or telephone interactions. This decision resulted from an alleged hypothesis that the great number of incoming email in one’s mailbox causes higher levels of anxiety and stress.

Just give it a thought – Isn’t it really stressful to see your inbound email increasing rapidly in the glimpse of an eye? You are in the middle of a task, trying to be focused and productive while at the same time your eye catches the email notifications that pop up non-stop. How productive is that…Don’t mention what happens if you notice “Urgent” notifiers in the subject or requests that you know they are expected “asap”! I’m sure you can recall an email from your manager arriving late at night, requesting a piece of info or an X answer… and you know…really know that he/she doesn’t like to wait until the morning to get that replied…

In any case, I’m not sure how that pilot would work for the Italian company, because an “I want it now” colleague may just pop up at no time in your office as well, pointing that finger at you. The same way a no-point email can be substituted by a no-point meeting… Same effect and maybe worst 🙂

The conclusion I arrive at is that this is a nice exercise for companies and employees to reevaluate the “disturbance or stress levels” they cause one way or the other!

Tiny discoveries

Lovely tiny discoveries during our walk within the forest, up high in the mountains of Central Greece! Mushrooms of different sizes, colorings and shapes. Can’t help but staring…
